The Woltons maintain the lead, with their wealth growing by a quarter of a trillion thanks to the rise in Walmart shares. The second and third positions are held by Middle Eastern ruling dynasties, whose power is based on hydrocarbons but is actively diversified through sovereign funds. Among European clans, luxury houses — Ermes and Wertehimers (Chanel) — stand out. They demonstrate that heritage and craft brands can compete with commodity giants.
